Promoting Events Through Live Art

SprATX’s journey started in 2013 as a small screen printing business in Austin, TX consisting of just a few super talented artists with one goal in mind—to spread art through the heart of Texas, and beyond. Fast forward four years, now we are a happy family of free-thinking, creative artists and have made our dream into a reality that can be seen throughout the best city in the country. While screen printing for T-shirts was how it all began, we didn’t stop there. SprATX brought into Austin, #ATXFreeArtFriday, one of Austin’s most popular festivals that we get to celebrate the […]

Interview :: H.A.M Houston

We recently took a visit to Houston, TX and made a stop at the H.A.M museum (Harrisburg Arts Museum) in east downtown to check out the warehouse covered in graffiti art. The project is curated by Daniel Anguilu. On one side there are murals created by various artists with no rhyme or reason (but dope AF) however if you venture to the back side of the warehouse, you will notice all the bay doors spell out “Houston, Texas” with each letter being created by a different artist. The inside of the warehouse is also filled with murals however we showed up on an […]

SAVE THE MUSIC :: J Muzacz @ Encore Records

We recently partnered with Encore Records, one of Austin’s longest standing music shops, and local SprATX artist J Muzacz, AKA GIVE1, for the curation of East Austin’s newest large-scale mural. The mural was painted in homage to the East 6th Street’s Encore Records and the East Austin community. When we reached out to our friends at Ironlak for a partnership with their sister company, Sugar, they were happy to help. Sugar is the newest line of spray paint carried at our Supply Shop (2400 E. Pedernales st.) and has the lowest impact on artist’s health and the environment. Here at SprATX […]

Artist Interview :: PONO

Article Written by: Zuzu Kelly Perkal Shay Macancheez AKA Pono is a visual artist currently living and working in Austin, TX. His artist name, Pono is a Hawaiian word that means ‘Righteousness’. Throughout his life and artistic career he’s spent time in the city life as well as the open range. His mom was in the city and his dad lived in the country, so he grew up with the best of both worlds, “at any given time either place served as my refuge”. He’s used drawing and painting as a creative outlet throughout his life but things changed after his experience on the Big […]

Giving Back :: Messages of Love

SprATX partnered with Operation Finally Home, Wilshire Homes, and Kleenex on an incredibly special project earlier this year. A beautiful home was built and donated to Nick, Shelby and their two children as a gift of thanks for their service to our country. SprATX artists, Zuzu, Liza Fishbone, and Asher Freehan added their love to the project by creating positive art and messages on the interior/exterior walls and floors throughout the house. After three days of painting, the Nelms new neighbors and loved ones walked through the house leaving messages of support and love. The house is a true work of art with the bones […]

atx FACTORY :: A New Kind of Shared Workplace

WRITTEN & PHOTOGRAPHED BY: ZUZU PERKAL It was all a dream… until it became a reality in September of this year when atx FACTORY opened it’s doors to the East Austin community. The co-working space is based on a membership system, so everyone is afforded the opportunity to really get to know one another and build lasting relationships. Since they opened a few short months ago the membership allotment is almost full. They’re crushin’ it!  There’s no denying the recent boom of co-working and co-lab spaces throughout the country, especially in Austin with it’s fast-growing culture and continuous influx of creatives and independent contractors.
