Spratx recently commissioned ten local artists to work with the City of Austin to promote the ‘Fresh Art Fresh Water’ project. The purpose to raise awareness and education about the importance of keeping our creeks clean form pollution runoff into storm drains. Each artist painted a storm drain somewhere in the limits of the ATX using water-based, environmentally friendly paint and materials. Read more about the project at www.art4water.org

We encourage you to go out and find all ten storm drains! Addresses of the painted storm drains will be posted at www.art4austin.org

Good water quality deteriorates when we don’t take care of our urban environment. Litter and pollutants (motor oil, pet waste, pesticides, and more) that are left on the land wash into our creeks and river when it rains, directly or through storm drains on our streets.

This project promotes the importance of protecting Austin’s creeks and river and encourages community members to take actions that show their #creeklove”.  –The City of Austin‘s website
