Our grand re-opening and three year anniversary party last Saturday was a bigger success than we could have ever imagined. With a turnout of over 800 people, the five-hour celebration continued until the booze ran out. To those who waited in line for 45 minutes, we applaud and appreciate you. A huge thanks to Jameson Whiskey, KCCORed Bull, Cat Tequila, Red, White and Blue and BeatBox Beverages for providing everyone with a much needed liquid blanket, as well as our other sponsors, Art Primo, theCHIVE, Sunken Ships Studio, and Brick Oven. Shoutout to DJ ChinoCasino for the dope tunes throughout the evening, as well as Austin Event Lighting for transforming our new space into a work of art and Cask One for our sick new mural. We truly could not have done this without all of you.IMG_4726

Our new office space is something that has been in the works for over 6 months, but SprATX as a business has been in the making since 2013. We started out as just a small side project, with the idea of putting local Austin artists designs on t-shirts via screen-printing. With promotions through Instagram using one universal hashtag, #spratx, the t-shirt sales blew up ultimately leading to requests for more designs and other art operations around the city. With the popularity and success of the hashtag, our collective went on to help promote these local Austin artists by fostering “Free Art Friday”, where artists would hide their art around the city and we would Instagram hints of where to find it, of course using the signature hashtag. The phenomenon of Free Art Friday exploded, sparking local festival Fun Fun Fun Fest to request artistic activations in order to help their brand stand out during the festival. This was a huge turning point for SprATX; now we had a major recognition that would soon lead into us taking part in 2013’s SXSW and XGames. That being said, founders Mouf, Molly and BLVD decided to legitimize Spratx as a business, giving it an identity and infrastructure which brought in the team you know and love today, one that has evolved into more than just a collective: a brand, a destination, and an Austin staple.

It is now 2016, and our dreams are now a reality. Our family of street artists, muralists, and creative energies have dedicated their talents to spreading insight and recognition of not only the effective power of street art, but the generation of economic opportunities for artists. As a collective of creative individuals, we will continue to do so, and more. This party gave us the chance to show what we have made of ourselves over the past four years. We’re honored to be where we are today. Our new location has come to life, including a gallery space, art supplies galore, books, art, prints, stickers and the recently launched signature apparel line. We hope that you are as stoked as we are about the new digs, and all that we do to fill empty spaces with positive messages and beautiful art.
